Fall from Grace
i just finished watching this documentary about the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka Kansas. There are so many things i could say about this documentary, but they would be obvious. The message the Phelps family is spreading is offensive, hateful, and misleading. Their children are wrapped into this "religion" and do not even understand the power and hate behind the message they are spreading.
i am not a religious person, nor would i say i am a very patriotic person, but i was shocked by the tings these people had to say. According to Fred Phelps my ass is going STRAIGHT to hell. i'm sure that would be true if i believed in hell lol.
it just makes me really sad to see the kids holding picket signs that say: god hates you, thank god for dead soldiers, and fags are evil. When asked what was God's message and what did the signs mean the kids did not have a clear answer. Some of them just said "i don't know, but i know God hates them....". i know it is just one family and they are not going to take over the world, but they are a scary group of individuals.
i was relieved to see that 4 of Fred Phelp's children left the church. They described him as abusive and sick minded. He needs psychiatric care and i am concerned that the younger members of the church will grow up to be serial killers. One of the little boys was saying he gets so mad that he wants to kill the people who say mean things to him, but he can't because god will. That shit is scary!
What is going to happen when lil Johnny gets to high school and he snaps because he does not have any friends, or he has a dream that god tells him to kill in the name of the lord?
i understand legally the government cannot tell them to shut the hell up or leave people alone. But i wish there was a way to make them hush....removal of vocal cords maybe?
i believe in karma and what goes around comes around. I don't wish ill will on the Phelps family, i really hope they have some kind of epiphany and change their ways. i doubt the older church members will gain any kind of enlightenment but there is hope for the younger members. Some of Phelps's oldest children realized his madness and ran away from him 25-30 years ago and haven't spoken to him since. Phelps is like a zillion years old maybe when he passes away his grand children will say F this crap we out!
The church travels all over the world and have to have the police protect them. They came to my high school when i was a senior and they were belligerent on levels i have never seen sober people behave. They never stay too long in a new city. i'm sure if they tried to set up their church in philly they would get their asses kicked within 30 mins of putting up that god hates fags sign. we are an aggressive breed of people in philly a angry gay flash mob would be an interesting sight to see.... i might have to support that lol
i RARELY EVER make allusions to god or religion, but i see it fit today.
i personally believe i am loved by my family friends and the creator for who i am, what i have done, what i have and will learn in this life. I will screw some stuff up, but i will also create, explore and love in ways words cannot express. i am an embodiment of my family's love and that is good enough for me.
