Saturday June 26th was the k!dult youth leadership conference hosted by Pharrell. it was the first kidult conference and it was in New York. The wonderful miss Field had an extra ticket so she invited me to go. i'm so glad she did because i had a great time. i didn't really take any pictures, but i walked away with a lil more than a few snapshots.
The conference was well organized and engaging the entire time. Normally i get bored during lectures or when there is a speaker standing on a podium telling me what i SHOULD be doing. Kidult wasn't like that. There were mentoring sessions and time allotted for mingling with other people or asking speakers questions. Pharrell performed for a lil at the end of the conference, but he made it very clear that the point of the entire day was the get inspired and motivated to do more and be more than just a teen.
i thought about selling cookies this summer, but after hearing this guy speak about how he started a business selling brownies, i know i need to stop fooling around and get to getting.
i really appreciate the opportunity Pharrell is giving us as young people to network and ask questions. Pharrell could just have easily donated money to charity or done nothing at all. He instead took the time out and money to help us get ahead.
